Royal Wootton Bassett Rotary Club has launched its sixth annual calendar in a fundraising push to aid treatment for prostate cancer and Wiltshire Air Ambulance.

The calendar launched on Saturday in the High Street, and features a variety of historic images of landmarks around the town.

Club president Ceri Pridding said: “It’s our sixth annual calendar, which is our major fundraiser for bringing money into the club. We decide which charities will benefit most from our help before we put it together. This year, proceeds will be going to Prostate Cancer UK and Wiltshire Air Ambulance.

“The pictures we have chosen span back about 100 years, from about 1906 to 1910. We had a meeting with Wootton Bassett Town Museum, who own all the copyright for the photos.”

The club hopes to sell 1,000 calendars and the first print run was for 600. The first calendar was snapped up within seconds of the launch by Eileen Almond. Copies cost £5 from Sainsbury’s, the Post Offices, Rowse, Dandelion, and Londis in Gainsborough Avenue.
