Rotary's annual inter-schools quiz competition at Marsh Farm Hotel provided fun and friendly rivalry for teams from six local primary schools and entertained a large audience of parents, teachers and friends.

Topics included food, flags, films, television and books, famous saints, celebrities, numbers and general knowledge.

The quiz was devised by Gill Llewellyn (retired head of South Marston Primary School) and the question master was teacher Mark Hazzard.

The lively participants represented primary schools of Broad Hinton, Lydiard Millicent, Purton St Mary’s, Longleaze, Noremarsh and St Bartholomew’s.

At half time Longleaze held a narrow lead, just ahead of St Bartholomew’s, with Noremarsh third.

But positions changed several times in the second half, and St Bartholomew’s emerged as clear winners with 159 points. Runners-up were Broad Hinton (147) and Longleaze (146).

Rotary president Dave Fenwick thanked everyone who contributed to the event.
