A MAN killed in a serious crash between a lorry and a car in Hullavington has been named locally as Nana Boateng, from Chippenham.

Mr Boateng was believed to be travelling home from visiting his family when he was involved in a horrific collision on the A429 near Malmesbury at around 4am on Christmas Eve.

He was in a silver Ford Fiesta at the time of the incident, which involved an HGV. The accident happened close to the Kingway Bridge near Hullavington.

Mr Boateng worked at the First Bus depot in Bath and was described as a “popular man” by colleagues.

In a staff memo, First announced: “It is with very great regret that we advise all members of staff that our friend and colleague Nana Boateng has died in the early hours of Christmas Eve. We shall all miss his infectious smile and personality. Our thoughts are with his family at this difficult time.”

The A429 was closed in both directions for several hours between J17 of the M4 motorway and Malmesbury following the accident.

Wiltshire Police is asking anyone who may have witnessed the collision or saw the vehicles prior to the collision to contact PC 1106 Rabczak, on 101, or via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
