The Helping Victims of Domestic Abuse Christmas shoe box appeal has been launched.

The charity want people to fill a shoe box with gifts to give a boost to babies, children and adults who have been affected by domestic abuse.

Founder of HVDA, Kevin Thorne, said:β€œIt's not nice having nothing for your children to open on Christmas day and all because someone can no longer take the physical, sexual, emotional, or financial abuse.

"Please help them to have something this Christmas and show people do care.”

There are a range of collection points across Wiltshire in the lead up to the festive period.

Collection points in the area include David Dudly Jewellers on Marlborough High Street, Kennet Furniture Refurbiz (kfr) on the Hopton Park industrial estate in Devizes, Chippenham fire station and Calne Town Council building.

Each shoe box can be filled with treats for a child from a specific age range or for adults and dropped off at any of the destinations.

The charity hopes to help families who have left abusive partners by sending them gifts over the festive period.

The organisation works with domestic abuse victims to reduce their suffering and help them become independent again.
