MEDINA Dairy Ltd has been fined £6,100 after a lorry stopped in Wiltshire was found to be overweight.
The dairy firm was brought before Swindon Magistrates’ Court having pleaded guilty to the lorry being 37.4% over the weight limit in place for that class of vehicle on July 30 of last year on the A419.
No representative from the firm was present in court for the DVSA prosecution, and magistrates explained the offence was aggravated by a previous conviction, the fine being increased by £10 for every 10 per cent over the weight limit.
The Windsor-based dairy must also pay a £170 victim surcharge along with £316 costs.
