GENEROUS fundraisers have dug deep in aid of a cancer charity, raising more than £4,000 in just one night.

Now The Blue Boar in Aldbourne has presented a cheque for £4,165 to Macmillan Cancer Support following the charity Christmas auction held on December 23.

Michael Hehir, owner of The Blue Boar, said: “It was a great effort by so many people and especially those who contributed the lots for auction, which included holidays in Cornwall, luxury overnight stays, and even membership to a gin club.

"The Blue Boar patrons have shown over the three years we have been great supporters of our many different charity events whether it be local or national causes, with to date over £25,000 being raised.

"e hope we can make further contributions in the future to what is a very worthwhile charity doing invaluable work for patients and communities all over the county and beyond.”

Steve Goodrick, fundraising manager for Wiltshire Macmillan, said: “The friends, regulars and the owners Michael and Joanne at The Blue Boar have been fantastic supporters of Macmillan.

"The evening enjoyed some wonderful support and we are so very grateful to the local people around Aldbourne for their kind generosity.

"The funds raised will help us reach more people in the community affected by cancer. Thank you very much.

"Macmillan’s mission is to reach and improve the lives of everyone living with cancer and inspire millions of others to do the same. Any help you can give will mean they can reach more people in your local community. Thank you."
