AN extra 30 trains will be running to and from Bath this weekend as people flock to the city's popular Christmas market, adding more than 10,000 seats to normal capacity.

The additional services are to be provided by Great Western Railway between Bath and Swindon and Westbury; and between Bath and Bristol.

But passengers are being warned that services will be in demand during peak arrival and departure times.

A queuing system will be in use at the station to allow passengers to board services safely, and shoppers should allow plenty of time to board services home.

Bath Spa station manager Todd Graham said: “It’s is great to see the Christmas market return to Bath, with over 170 traditional wooden chalets lining the streets once more.

“While our friendly and approachable staff will be on hand to help keep people moving, I would urge customers to allow time for their journeys, as the station is likely to be very busy, especially in the early evening, and you may have to queue to board your return train.”

There will be slight alterations to normal timetabled services because of the large number of services.
