A FORMER St Laurence School student has died after from a hotel in Brazil while at the Rio Olympics.
Named locally as Zoe Louise Robinson, from Bradford on Avon, the 21-year-old is believed to have fallen to her death from the ninth floor of the Bahia do Sol Hotel in Salvador on Sunday at around 5am.
It is believed Ms Robinson was a volunteer in Juazeiro, a city about 500km from Salvador, and had been studying on an Erasmus Scholarship in Germany and attended Aston University in the UK.
Ms Robinson is believed to have been with two friends and had gone to watch the Olympic football match between Nigeria and Denmark at the Fonte Nova Arena last Saturday.
When last in the UK it is understood that Ms Robinson worked at The New Inn in Westwood.
A British Foreign Office spokesperson said: “We are providing support to the family of a British national who has sadly died in Bahia State, Brazil. We are in contact with the local authorities.”
