To keep the whole family entertained this August bank holiday weekend, the Forestry Commission’s National Arboretum at Westonbirt will be celebrating its final Treefest in style.

The three day event, sponsored by STIHL, will be held on August 27 – 29 between 10am-5pm and will offer an exciting programme of family activities, chainsaw carving, arena displays, music and crafts.

Simon Hough, event manager at Westonbirt Arboretum said: “We’re really excited to celebrate the final year of Treefest in a big way! It’s a summer holiday highlight for us and we hope it is for families too.

“Last year thousands of people of all ages joined us over the three days, and we’re expecting just as many to come and celebrate with us this year.”

In addition to the action packed weekend the STIHL Timersports team, consisting of Britain’s lumberjack athletes, will be demonstrating their precision, sawing, slicing and chopping at speed.

The Great Big Tree Climbing Company will also offer an adrenaline rush for children with a 25 metre zip wire and a 100ft cedar tree climb.

Mr Hough added: “We’ve got a packed programme and new additions for the final year that promise to keep the whole family entertained! It’s a glorious setting and children have free entry, which makes it a fantastic value family day out!”

Arts and crafts will also be hosted by Junkfish, while trees that were felled during the year due to ill health will be turned into masterpieces in the chainsaw carving event.

A food arena will also accompany the two stages of music, making it a weekend to remember.

Tickets purchased before August 26 are £10 for adults, £8 for students and jobseekers and £5 for Friends of Westonbirt Arboretum. Children under the age of 18 can go free.
