ARE you a woman who would feel confident changing a tyre in an emergency?

Do you know what the red light on your dashboard means or how to check your oil?

To help women drivers improve their skills and feel more confident on the road, the Chippenham Motor Company and the Gazette & Herald have joined forces to run two free hands-on experience evenings just for woman, with the aim of providing lessons in basic car maintenance in a relaxed and fun atmosphere.

The Women in Drive evenings will take place at Chippenham Motor Company on Thursday, May 12, and Wednesday, May 18, from 6pm-7.30pm. There are 20 places available per session.

Catherine Fallon, marketing manager at Chippenham Motor Company, said: “We are very proud of our event, giving the women of Wiltshire great advice on how to look after their cars.

“At the end of the evening we hope that everyone will leave the dealership with useful tips and techniques that they can put into practice.”

The evenings will cover a variety of topics from dashboard warning lights and changing wheels to what to do if you accidentally fill your tank up with the wrong fuel. They will also be followed with a Q&A session.

Those participating will have two cars to practise on, and the dealership's mechanics will be there to talk them through the topics.

To book your place email events@cmcmail.co.uk or ring 0844 2472462 before noon on Monday, May 9.
