TODAY'S severe weather is disrupting trains around the country and the high winds affecting departures and arrivals at Bristol Parkway are likely to have a knock-on effect on journeys between Swindon and London Paddington.
Passengers should check travel times before setting off with the Great Western Railway even advising people not to travel between Cardiff, Bristol, Gloucester, Westbury and Taunton.
A GWR announcement warning of rail delays on the Bristol-London mainline, with trains to the capital reduced to an hourly service, advises commuters travelling home to north and west Wiltshire from Bath and Bristol that rail tickets can be used on bus serives if they want to try and avoid the train altogether.
First Bus route 231: Bath (Bus Station) - Chippenham (Railway Station) and First Bus route 265: Bath (Bus Station) - Bradford on Avon - Trowbridge - Westbury - Warminster - Salisbury are conveying passengers via any reasonable route until further notice. Arrangements have been made for Great Western Railway rail tickets to be accepted for these journeys.
All ticket restrictions have been lifted and customers may use tickets dated today - Monday, February 8 - tomorrow with GWR.
Customers able to travel tomorrow are asked to travel as close to the origial journey time where specified on the ticket.
We are advising customers not to travel between Cardiff, Bristol, Gloucester, Westbury and Taunton. More info here: https://t.co/hlEBXMXQyy
