A MAN from Malmesbury who made online threats to the head of New College in Swindon has been remanded in custody for a month.

Kieran Andrew Miles, 32, of Giles Close, Lea, Malmesbury, was arrested after allegedly posting numerous threats on a public Facebook page in which he threatened to kill or cause serious injury to Graham Taylor, head of the college, and commit criminal damage to New College.

The court also heard that Miles allegedly posted videos on the social media site making more threats towards the college.

Miles appeared via video link in North Wiltshire Magistrates’ Court at Chippenham today.

He faces two charges, one of harrassment towards Mr Taylor, to which he pleaded not guilty, and another of possessing of 1.5g of cannabis, to which he pleaded guilty.

At a previous hearing on Saturday, January 23, Miles had pleaded not guilty to the alleged threats.

The court was told Miles was found in possession of the cannabis in Malmesbury when police arrested him for the alleged threats made to the college.

Defence solicitor Ellen McAnaw said: “I believe conditional bail should be granted until a further hearing.”

Bail was denied by chairman of the bench Jonathan Chappell and the other magistrates.

Miles is next due to appear at Swindon Crown Court on February 29.
