The skies are expected to remain damp and grey until noon and from then it should be dry until about 8pm although the Met Office says westerly winds may gust up to 38mph until about 5pm.

A two-vehicle accident near the Longcot junction of the A420 is causing delays of 15 minutes to Stagecoach West's Route 66 service, to and from Swindon.

On the railways there were alterations between Bath Spa and Swindon first thing, and cancellations between the latter and Westbury.

Signalling problems between Swindon and Bath meant fewer trains were running with delays of up to 15 minutes, or revised journeys altogether.

Services had returned to normal by mid-morning after signalling problems had closed the line between Swindon and Westbury. 

Passengers for Melksham had to change at Trowbridge for taxis while passengers for stations beyond Melksham travelled to Bath Spa, connecting with London Paddington-bound services there.

There were 10-minute delays on the M4 this morning due to congestion and was the usual heavy traffic on the A419 southbound towards Junction 15.
