Freddie James Jordan

Born: May 4, 12.27am

Weight: 8lb 3oz

Parents: Rebecca and Chris Jordan of Staverton

TWO days after Kate Middleton gave birth to Princess Charlotte, Staverton parents Rebecca and Chris Jordan welcomed their own little prince into the world.

Freddie is the first child for the couple who have been together for three years and Mrs and Mr Jordan of Swan Drive, are glad the birth of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s baby came before Freddie’s so not to overshadow his arrival.

Mrs Jordan, 19, said: “I didn’t want to give birth on the same day as the royal baby, but it’s a monumental thing to put in his book and to say he was born days after the royal princess.”

The couple kept the gender of the baby a surprise and Mr Jordan, 38, had chosen the name Alice if they had a girl, one of the names bookmakers had also said was a favourite for the royal princess to be called, but they were delighted to have a boy.

“I just always liked the name Freddie,” Mrs Jordan added. “When he arrived he looked like a Freddie too.”

She gave birth at Trowbridge Birthing Centre and thanks to the midwives was put at ease throughout her labour: “They were absolutely brilliant Helen and Claire were the main two. It went really well, as well as a pregnancy can go. I went in on Sunday morning and he arrived on Monday.”

The trainee nursery nurse is also full of praise for her husband, a self-employed property renovator, she said: “Chris was absolutely brilliant and so supportive I couldn’t have asked for a better birthing partner.”

Freddie has already had his first long-distance journey to Weymouth to see Mrs Jordan’s father and has met and been doted over by all of the couple’s family and friends.

Although only just over a week old, he has spent most his time sleeping, Mrs Jordan joked: “He snores like his dad, quite badly and quite loudly.”
