Witnesses are being sought following a serious crash near Chippenham yesterday in which a 79-year-old woman suffered life-threatening injuries.

The collision involving two vehicles occurred on the A420 at Lanhill between a blue Land Rover Discovery was travelling towards Chippenham and a green Honda Jazz just before 4.15pm 

The 79-year-old female driver and sole occupant of the Honda Jazz suffered life threatening injuries and was flown to Southmead Hospital in Bristol by the Wiltshire Air Ambulanced.

The three occupants of the Land Rover Discovery were treated at the scene for minor injuries.

A section of the A420 was closed for several hours while investigations were carried out at the scene.

Police are appealing for anyone with information on the incident to contact them immediately.
