Sutton Benger Primary School had an inspirational visit from Paralympic athlete Ben Rushgrove.

The sprinter from Bath, who has cerebral palsy, set a world record for the T36 200m in 2007 and became the first athlete to break 25 seconds in the event.

He encouraged the children as they took part in sponsored circuits, which raised £1,250.

Sixty per cent will buy playtime sports equipment for the school. The rest goes to Sports for Schools and is used to support international athletes.

Headteacher Hayley Roberts said: “Ben spent the morning supporting the children during their sponsored circuit training session and then finished by doing a sports demo, answering questions and even passing around his golden running shoes and Olympic medals.

“His talk was very inspiring for both the children and the staff.”
