Collections at Queen’s Crescent School have outstripped all other groups in the Chippenham area for the second year running by bringing in 54,656 supermarket vouchers.

The 2014 total is more than 7,000 over the number of Sainsbury’s Active Kids vouchers they got last year.

Not only can the school now buy lots of PE equipment, it will also get a larger shed in which to store it, as Sainsbury’s has given the primary an additional £500.

The vouchers amassed by parents and supporters represents an equivalent spend of up to £546,560 in stores.

Headteacher Julia Hawkins said: “We are absolutely delighted to discover that we have again collected the most Sainsbury’s vouchers out of all the Chippenham schools.

“I would like to thank all our parents and our school community for their help.”

A total 1,349 schools, clubs and groups registered with Chippenham Sainsbury’s for the scheme, which has donated £1,941,486 of equipment across Wiltshire since it began in 2005, in response to concerns over child obesity.
