The Royal United Hospital Bath says it has put plans in place to ensure patients experience no disruptions during a health workers' strike on Monday.

Workers from UNITE, UNISON, GMB and the Royal College of Midwives will walk out from 7am to 11am. The action is in protest over the Government's decision not to gove all NHS staff a one per cent pay rise, as recommended by the independent pay review body.

A small number of antenatal clinics have been rearranged, but all women booked into the service have been informed.

All outpatient appointments will run as normal and people should attend their appointments as planned.

Director of human resources Claire Buchanan said: “We respect the right of our staff to strike but, at the same time, patients count on our ability to deliver services. We have worked to ensure that all patient appointments run as normal and no major disruptions are expected.”

The hospital said its services will run as normal, including the emergency department, maternity and the neonatal unit.
