Vintage buses will be bringing back a taste of the 1950s to Wiltshire on Sunday.

More than 40 of the classic vehicles will travel to the area as part of the annual Warminster Vintage Running Bus Day.

The event will try to recreate the 1950s, '60s and '70s era of bus operation in West Wiltshire by offering free rides on 20 services to surrounding towns and villages.

Bob Eade, president of the organising committee, said: “When the first event was being organised in 1994 using just two vehicles, no-one thought that 20 years later it would have become one of the largest vintage bus running days in the country.

“Every year we are finding that an increasing number of local people are taking the opportunity to indulge in a little nostalgia and admire the scenery as they travel through the picturesque villages served by our routes, some of which are now difficult to visit using public transport.”

The event starts at 10am in Warminster’s central car park.

There will be free buses running from Chippenham, Trowbridge, Westbury and Melksham to the event.
