Wiltshire Police are appealing for witnesses after seven vehicles in Calne were attacked on Thursday night.

Vehicles parked in Ridgemead, Duncan Street, Peregrine Court, Grayling Close and Buzzard Road were damaged.

Police believe a sharp implement was used to score deep scratches into the paintwork of each vehicle, causing several thousands of pounds worth of damage.

One vehicle also had obscene wording scrawled into its bonnet.

PCSO Mark Cook, of the Calne Neighbourhood Police Team, said: “I am absolutely speechless as to why anyone in our town would take it upon themselves to carry out these mindless acts of damage.

"This has caused an extreme amount of distress to the owners and will result in a great financial burden to rectify.

"So far seven vehicles have been damaged and I would urge anyone who has recently discovered damage to their vehicle in these locations to please report it on 101, so we can investigate this matter fully.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Calne Police via 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, where information can be left anonymously.
