Book lovers with a sweet tooth will get their fill at the Marlborough LitFest this weekend thanks to a donation of buns from Waitrose.

Those wishing to take a breather between literary talks can pop into the LitFest Café in the town hall for refreshments.

As well as tea, coffee and homemade cakes, the town’s Waitrose store has donated Marlborough buns as part of their Best of British range.

The newly refurbished and restocked White Horse Bookshop will also run a bookstall next to the café for browsing and buying books written by visiting LitFest authors.

Mavis Cheek, founder patron of the Marlborough LitFest, said: “Like the Marlborough Literature Festival, Marlborough buns are a local treat that can be enjoyed by everyone.

“We are extremely grateful to Waitrose for another year of support to our festival.”

Among the literary treats at the 2014 festival is popular children’s author Caroline Lawrence who is appearing at the town hall on Saturday at 10.30am.

In a lively illustrated talk, she will discuss how to write a great story, how she got the ideas for her best-selling history-mystery books and will share writing tips gleaned from her travels and favourite movies.
