Budding artists from all over Wiltshire have been helping to raise awareness of breastfeeding by taking part in an art competition.
The winners of the competition were presented with their certificates at a presentation event last Thursday.
A panel of four judges selected 11 pieces of artwork-– seven winners and four highly commended. The artwork has been brought together as an exhibition that will be shown in venues around the county.
The exhibition coincides with Wiltshire Breastfeeding Awareness week this week.
Keith Humphries, cabinet member for public health, said: “These artworks are a fresh way to ensure the positive benefits of breastfeeding can be promoted and I congratulate all those who took part.”
Winners included Elise Ford, age 10, of Chippenham, who won the age 5 to 11 category with her work called ‘Baby and I’.
In the adult category, winners were Sian Rivers from Chippenham with her work, ‘Feeding the soul’; Yvonne Cunnane of Marlborough, with ‘A moment of intimacy, Eli and Robin’; Sally Evans of Hilperton with ‘Lost in a crowd’ and Louise Hackney of Tidworth with ‘What could be more natural?’ Lindsay Sherwood of Calne was highly commended for her work, ‘A precious moment’.
