Cancer survivor Thomas Green, who received vital support from The Youth Cancer Trust, is campaigning for the charity to win Best Health project in this year’s National Lottery Awards.

The Youth Cancer Trust’s project, Wellbeing Activity Breaks for Young People with Cancer, has made it through to the public vote to decide this year’s National Lottery Awards. The trust’s centre in Bournemouth gives people aged between 14 and 30 free activity breaks.

Mr Green, 36, of Bratton Avenue, Devizes, has raised more than £4,000 for the Trust by doing a sky dive.

He had two malignant and life-threatening brain tumours at the age of 17 and 18 and is now in remission but has recurring problems, including partial deafness and he walks with a stick.

He said: “The Youth Cancer Trust gives cancer patients a bit of normality. I think the centre in Bournemouth is a life saver.

“When I got to the Youth Cancer Trust’s house in Bournemouth it was like a homecoming.

“The trust allows people to go beyond their illnesses and be young people again.

“It is a fantastic charity and I hope everyone will vote for them to win this National Lottery Award.”
