Music by young composer Marcus Warner will be heard on radios after one of his songs was chosen to feature on an advert.

His music captured the imagination of Debbie Sanderson, office manager at Mirabel Clinic in Swindon, who saw him perform at a concert at St John’s in Marlborough.

The clinic, owned by Alison Brooks, was looking for a piece of music for their new Heart fm advert and the 17-year-old’s song, Without Boarders, fitted the bill.

She said: “The piece we have used isn’t the song that he played at the concert but for some reason I went home and Googled him and I listened to a different piece and I thought it was perfect.

“We had been looking for a song to use in our new advert for a while so I sent the link to Alison and she loved it too.

“The song is about three minutes long and the adverts are 30 seconds and ten seconds so I was worried that the advert wouldn’t capture the essence of the song but it has turned out really well.”

Marcus of, Walnut Close in Urchfont, originally wrote the song for a competition to create a piece of music for the charity Medecins Sans Frontieres.

Marcus, who has just finished his A-levels, was unsuccessful in the competition but was thrilled when the song got a second shot.

He said: “I heard the advert after it was finished and I’m really pleased with it.”

Marcus is hoping to go to Hertfordshire University in September.
