SWINDON Town fans were left frustrated on the road to Wembley this week, when the website providing tickets for the cup final crashed when general sales began.
More than 12,000 people jammed the switchboard in the first hour alone on Tuesday, while the online system packed up altogether under the massive demand.
Ticket Zone, the sales outlet engaged by the club, was forced to limit the number of users trying to buy seats for the Robins’ Johnstone Paint Trophy final on March 25.
Domingo Tjornelund, director of Ticket Zone, confirmed that there had been traffic issues with the site on Tuesday morning.
“This was partially due to traffic volume but also due to coding errors within a new piece of software that had been launched a few weeks ago,” he said.
A club spokesman said: “The web site was back up and running later in the day. There are plenty of tickets available and we would ask fans to be patient.”
