The wife of stabbing victim José Maria Raimundo Pereira has paid tribute to a loving father and husband.

Mr Pereira, 40, known to his friends and family as Raymond, of Manchester Road, Swindon, died from knife wounds on Friday evening just yards from his home.

Two men have been arrested and one charged with his murder.

He was on his way to do the night shift at distribution firm Wincanton at South Marston when he was attacked at 9.30pm.

His wife Maria Fernandes, known to family and friends as Suzie, who arrived at the scene to find her husband in a pool of blood, said: "I have lost a person who was very precious to me, my love, my life.

"I pray that such tragedy should not be experienced by any family ever again."

She said their son Samuel, five, is struggling to come to terms with the tragedy.

"My son misses his father terribly and he says that Jesus has taken his dada to heaven because he is a good man," she said.

"My son says that Jesus is going to bless him with more blessings, he is still waiting for his return."

His family said Mr Pereira was dedicated to them and well respected within Swindon's Goan community.

"The local community are shocked and saddened by his death," they said.

They described him as being a cheerful and happy man who was always ready to help others.

Edino Carvalho, 23, of Plymouth Street, Swindon, has charged with murder. He has been remanded in custody and will appear at Swindon Magistrates Court today.

A 22-year-old Swindon man was also arrested on suspicion of murder but has been released on police bail pending further inquiries.

POlice are still appealing for witnesses to contact Wiltshire Police on 0845 4087000, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
