4:50pm Monday 6th March 2006 in Swindon By Joanne Moore
A box of frozen fish caused alarm in Swindon town centre today when it was reported to police.
The bomb squad was called in just before 1.30pm and blew up a brown cardboard box tied up with string.
The area was evacuated while the controlled explosion took place in Newbridge Square.
The box contained shopping including frozen fish. A thorough check of the scene was carried out by Army Bomb Disposal experts and the area was declared safe shortly after 3.00 p.m.
Swindon Police thanked the public for their co-operation
