A WOMAN who fell off the Croft Road M4 bridge remains in a critical condition.
The 69-year-old, from Swindon, has been identified by police but her family have requested that her identity is not revealed for the time being.
Police say she is currently resting in Great Western Hospital's intensive care but is still "touch and go".
She has severe impact injuries to her lower body as well as internal damage.
The woman fell on to the hard shoulder of the eastbound carriageway of the motorway on Friday during morning rush hour The A4361 Croft Road and one lane of the M4 were closed for two hours, causing long tailbacks.
Witnesses say she was lucky not to have been hit by cars speeding by her on the motorway.
