THREE people, including a child, were taken to hospital after an early morning collision set a car ablaze.
The accident happened yesterday at about 8am, on Hook Street, Lydiard Tregoze.
Both drivers, and the child passenger, were taken to Great Western Hospital with injuries, which were not thought to be life threatening.
Three fire engines attended the scene of the wreckage to douse the flames.
However crews were not able to save the grey Seat Ibiza, which was left a smouldering heap, after it was involved in a head-on collision with a blue Ford Mondeo.
A police officer at the scene said the cause of the smash was being investigated.
Early morning drivers were stuck in traffic chaos following the crash. Roads were left in gridlock as drivers tried to find routes around the road closure.
