A police car and a bus collided at 10:30 on Saturday night on Queens Drive at the junction with Upham Road in Swindon, involving a police car and a Thamesdown Bus.
The police vehicle was responding to an emergency call at the time of the collision.
The three occupants of the police patrol car were taken to hospital.
Swindon Divisional Commander Paul Howlett said: "Clearly it is distressing that this incident has happened, our thoughts are very much with the people that were involved and we wish those that were injured a speedy recovery.
"As is normal practice, this matter will be referred to the Independent Police Complaints Commission and it is important that a thorough investigation is completed in liaison with them.
"In order to ensure this inquiry is not undermined it is important that we allow the investigators to carry out their task unimpeded, therefore it would be inappropriate for me to comment further regarding the details of this collision.
"I would ask anyone who witnessed this incident, or who has any information which may help with the investigation, to contact the Northern Roads Policing Unit at Swindon on 0845 4087000. Anyone wishing to leave information anonymously can call Crimestoppers on 0800 555111."
