A MAN who died in a car crash on Wednesday has been identified by police.
Philip Suddes, 28, of Alexandra Park Wroughton, was in the passenger seat of an Audi sports car when it crashed out of control and hit a tree on Brimble Hill at around 4pm.
The car's driver, a man in his late 20s from the Oxford area, had to be cut free from the wreckage by fire fighters.
He was taken to hospital for treatment, but his injuries were not thought to be life threatening.
Traffic police have launched an investigation into the cause of the crash.
Sgt Richard Day said: "The passenger took the full force of the impact when the car hit the tree."
The Silver sports car was left unrecognisable after the crash.
Police are appealing for witnesses who were in the Brimble Hill area at around 4pm on Wednesday and saw the Audi before the collision.
Anyone with any information should contact the Northern Roads Policing Unit on 0845 408 7000.
