Victoria Hospital woman survived fall

Hospital patient Iris Carey, 77, who fell from a window survived the accident with a broken ankle and a fractured bone in her back.

In this week's Swindon edition of the Gazette we reported she died from her injuries.

In fact Mrs Carey died a year after the accident at Victoria Hospital, Swindon, from an unrelated cause.

We apologise for any distress caused to her family or hospital staff.

Avon and Wiltshire Mental Health Partnership NHS Trust was fined £20,000 by Swindon Magistrates yesterday for breaches of health and safety procedure which happened at the old Victoria Hospital in October 2005.
