Michael Wills, MP for North Swindon has today encouraged local businesses to bid for London 2012 contracts.
So far, 500 business contracts have been awarded, almost half of these going to companies outside London.
The Olympic Delivery Authority and the London Organising Committee estimate that there are 75,000 further business opportunities for direct contractors and their supply chains to be awarded over the coming years.
Michael said: The 2012 Olympics are a fantastic opportunity for businesses in Britain and I believe that Swindon businesses are in a unique position to benefit from the tens of thousands of contracts that have yet to be awarded, so I hope they will seize this challenge to compete for contracts.
As a first step, businesses can register their interest on the London 2012 website: www.london2012.com/business, which will also soon host an online business portal that will match buyers with suppliers
