Cinema evacuated in blaze drama

Cinemagoers were evacuated last night after a fire broke out in a disused night club at Shaw Ridge in Swindon.

Seven fire engines were called to the fire at the back of the building just after 8pm.

At first it was thought the fire was in the Ten Pin bowling alley next to the nightclub but firefighters quickly located its origin.

The bowling alley and the Cineworld multiplex were evacuated while the fire was tackled.

Crews from Westlea, Swindon, Stratton, Wootton Bassett and Cricklade fought the fire using two main jets, two hosereels and 15 breathing apparatus.
