Rape suspect to stand trial

A Park South man is to face trial by jury accused of raping a woman three years ago.

Steven Lucas is charged with the rape and attempted rape of the same woman between June 16 and August 18, 2004.

The 33-year-old also faces a charge of actual bodily harm on the same alleged victim.

Lucas, of Cranmore Avenue, pleaded not guilty to rape, attempted rape and actual bodily harm.

The case was adjourned to January 28 when he will face trial by jury on the charges. He was released on conditional bail.
