Doorstep conmen pose as water board officials

Police are appealing for witnesses after two men conned their way into a house in Marlborough Road, Swindon, yesterday afternoon by posing as inspectors from the water board.

They told the homeowner they needed to check their water supply as there was a leak in the house next door.

One man went into the kitchen while the other went upstairs.

A jewellery box was removed from the house but it is not known if anything was taken from it.

The first man is described as white, around 5 ft 5 aged between 30 and 40 years old. The second was taller and also white and of a similar age.
