A DEFANDANT who called a judge a rude name as he left the dock at Swindon Magistrates' Court was brought back to apologise.

Liam Tubb, 21, of High Street, Royal Wootton Bassett, had been arrested as a result of unpaid fines and costs of several hundred pounds dating back to last year.

He was being taken down to the cells on Wednesday to fill out a means form to make arrangements to pay them off. But as he was escorted from the dock he muttered the insult.

“What did you call me?” demanded district judge Simon Cooper.

“Why are you pointing your finger at me? I don’t like your attitude,” responded the defendant.

“Go down, Tubb,” the judge ordered.

When he reappeared two hours later Tubb apologised for his outburst and was given time to pay up.
