A WOMAN has died in a serious crash involving a coach and three cars near Marlborough.

Police, firefighters, the air ambulance and paramedics are on the scene at the A346 by Wet Pits Lane, near Ogbourne St Andrew. Emergency services were called at 1.45pm today.

One woman, with head injuries, was trapped in her car and fire crews from Marlborough and Swindon released her. 

A police spokesman said: "The woman driver of one of the cars was pronounced dead at the scene at just after 3pm." 

A Barnes coach, which did not have passengers onboard, was involved as well as a BMW and a Vauxhall Astra, along with the woman's vehicle.

The driver of the bus, which was heading to Marlborough, has not been hurt. It is not known if anyone else was injured.

School buses to St John's are likely to be delayed for an hour, Wiltshire Council has warned.

The road is blocked in both ways from Marlborough Golf Club to Chiseldon and diversions are in place with traffic reported to be queuing.

The road is likely to be closed for a number of hours.

This is the second crash along the A346 near Marlborough in a month.

A woman was seriously injured and another woman hurt after the car they were travelling in collided with a tree on the A346 on Tuesday, February 9.

Police, fire crews and the air ambulance were all called to the crash near Wet Pits Lane in Ogbourne St Andrew just after 4pm and the road was closed for nearly six hours causing gridlock for motorists.
