DRIVER are being made aware of a slow moving and wide "abnormal load" - a Boeing 737 aircraft fuselage - which police will escort through Wiltshire tomorrow

The fuselage is due to travel by low-loader from the Cotswolds Airport at Kemble to Junction 18 of the M4.

As it measures 4.42 metres wide, 4.9 metres high with an overall length of 38 metres and gross train weight of 70 tonnes, the transporter will be slow moving and could create congestion.

A police spokesman said: "Wherever possible disruption will be kept to a minimum but hauliers and motorists are asked to please be patient if they come across this load. Anyone travelling over this period to catch a flight or meet appointments should allow sufficient additional time.

"Regular updates and travel information in respect of this abnormal load will be passed from our control room at Devizes when appropriate to help motorists plan their journey."

The journey begins at about 10am at Kemble and the load will leave the site via the main gate.

It will then be escorted left onto the A429, then right onto the A433/A429. It will then travel through Cirencester on to the southbound carriageway of the A419, before leaving westbound at Junction 15 of the M4 towards Bristol.

Wiltshire Police will escort it until Junction 18 of the M4, at the border with Avon and Somerset.

Police escorting resources are being provided by volunteer police officers on rest days, paid for by the haulier at no cost to the public.
