A BACK-PACKER from Lyneham who went missing earlier this week in Thailand, sparking an international search, has been found safe and well.

The family of Jordan Jacobs, 21, said they were growing increasingly concerned for his safety as they had not heard from him since Monday, when he left cryptic messages about never being able to see his family again.

But upon realising the public furore over the disappearance he contacted his mother today to let her know he was safe.

Speaking to a national newspaper, he said he had probably just been having too much fun chilling on a beach.

He said: “I didn’t have a phone charger for a couple of days so I had no idea this was all going on as I hadn’t checked the internet.

“It was only when I woke up this morning that I saw it all over the internet. I thought, ‘it’s all gone crazy'.

“I’m very grateful that they were so concerned of course and I feel very guilty at the trouble and distress I’ve put everyone through.

"I was just wandering around here and had no idea.

"I feel pretty guilty and it’s very embarrassing. I will forever be known as the guy who went missing on his holidays.”

Jordan had last been seen on one of the Phi Phi Islands after accepting a ride with a local man from mainland Thailand.

The following day he sent a message to his mother saying he would never see his family again and he was sorry he did not get chance to say goodbye.

His family contacted him and he replied saying the Thai man would not leave him alone.

Jordan had been travelling around South East Asia since November last year and was due to return home yesterday.

News of the disappearance spread quickly after his sister Emily posted an appeal on her Facebook page and soon the story made national news.

She wrote: “It’s been 4 days since someone last saw my little brother. Please keep sharing and posting, it is helping.

“We are being contacted hourly by people from around the world offering to help or with information. From the bottom of my heart, Thank you for all of your generosity.

“Any information no matter how small you think it is could be huge. Any sightings or potential sightings. Any contact. Anything.

“We want to have him home safe.”

The post was shared thousands of times as people tried to raise awareness of the apparent disappearance.

A spokesman for Wiltshire Police said: “Following reports in the media about Wiltshire man Jordan Jacobs going missing in Thailand, we can now confirm that he was located by Thai Police on Thursday morning (our time) and is safe and well.”
