The new chairman and managing director of Vauxhall Motors has gone on camera in a bid to reassure owners of Vaxhall Zafira B models.

Rory Harvey has released the new video amid the ongoing Vauxhall investigation into the troubled model, which has seen a number of fires in the area of the heating and ventilation system take hold.

The video comes after Royal Wootton Bassett mum of four Lisa Taperek managed to get her ten month old son Kinsley out of the back of her vehicle with just moments to spare after it went up in flames earlier this week.

During the film Harvey describes the action Vauxhall has already undertaken.

He said: "Unfortunately, fires in cars can pose a major challenge for investigators as many are damaged beyond investigation. As such we need to get to the root cause through a detailed analysis of a significant number of vehicles.

"I’d like to reassure you that we will be transparent with our findings which must rely on facts. We do not want to speculate on root causes as we must depend on the facts to generate a robust fix."
