Signed Robbie CD up for grabs

Robbie Williams Robbie Williams

Robbie Williams fans could bag a signed cd from the megastar in at a quiz and raffle event tonight.

Hospital Radio Swindon is hosting a contest in the town, and family ties have brought in raffle and quiz prizes for the event, including an exclusive, signed CD from the popstar.

One of the station's stalwart presenters Phil Wheeler's daughter, Swindon-born dancer Nikki Wheeler, is married to Williams' best pal Jonathan Wilkes.

Nikki met Jonathan while she worked as a dancer for the ex-Take That singer - a job which saw her travel the world and perform at the star's Knebworth gigs.

Williams has provided a signed copy of a limited edition version of his latest CD The Ego Has Landed, which is only available in America and Australia.

The CD will be the top prize in the raffle, alongside chocolates, wine and restaurant meals.

And another pair of Wilkes' celebrity pals, TV duo Ant and Dec, have donated four sets of signed merchandise, which will be part of the quiz winners' package of goodies, alongside signed CDs from Pop Idol comeback kid Gareth Gates.

Mr Wheeler said: "Through my contacts with Jonathan and, of course Nikki, I was able to get these prizes from Robbie.

"He has supported us really well in the past and he has come up trumps again for us this time. The Robbie Williams CD alone would be quite valuable, but with the signature it's something special.

"And as it's a raffle prize, the winner won't even need to be a huge pop fan to win it. And the Ant and Dec prizes are another favour from Jonathan - the link helps when we're trying to raise money."

The radio station is currently planning its move from Old Town to the Great Western Hospital, where a new studio is lying empty waiting for the team to take it over.

Phil said: "We are raising money for the radio society, with our move to the new hospital very much in mind.

"We are Swindon's longest running radio station, and are celebrating 40 years this year, as well as the relocation which is due in the next couple of months."

The quiz is taking place at the Thistle Hotel, in Fleming Way, and starts at 7.30pm.

Teams of four can still register to take part, with entry costing £16 a team. Call Mr Wheeler on 07795 103724.
