Delay in security decision for 'hammer attack' school

Further consultation is to be held over proposals to build a three-metre high fence at a Swindon school where a pupil was allegedly attacked with a hammer.

The 15-year-old boy was treated for head injuries following the incident at Ridgway School, Wroughton, in January.

The fence plan followed pressure from parents to improve school security.

After a debate by councillors yesterday, a parish council meeting is to be held and local residents will be given 15 days to give their views.
