Pop heartthrobs McFly are hoping that Swindon won't let them down when they play at the Oasis in April.

Drummer Harry Judd said they want to see people on their feet, fans going crazy and singing along when they set pulses racing as part of their Up Close and Personal tour.

And it is not the first time the 21-year-old has been to the town.

"I can't remember when it was, but I am sure I've been to Swindon before and quite recently," he said.

"I'm sure it was a happy experience though, my life is generally one happy experience."

The group, which is made up of Harry, singer and guitarist Danny Jones, singer and guitarist Tom Fletcher and bass player Dougie Poynter, are touring 24 smaller venues around the country in 30 days.

"It's going to be pretty crazy," said Harry.

"The idea is to play places we haven't done before.

"It is for the fans that want to see us but can't travel to all the arenas. We're looking forward to all the venues, especially Swindon."

Tickets for the gig sold out within two and a half hours, and Harry said they were still surprised how many people wanted to see them play.

"It's quite strange," he said.

"Two and a bit hours is a short amount of time, but we just tend to go with it.

"We're just excited about playing for fans who are desperate to see us."

The band's next single, Transylvania, is due for release in April, and Harry said fans could look forward to hearing that, along with other favourites including Star Girl, Obviously and their first number one, Five Colours in Her Hair.

And he said the band was hoping fans were going to be on top form when they heard the hits on April 23.

"Our fans are crazy and just go mad at gigs," he said.

"It is really good though as seeing them having such a good time helps us perform better.

"We want to see arses off seats, dancing and singing along."

And while he can't promise fans any of the nakedness on stage or giant inflatable legs that have featured at past performances, he guaranteed they would have a good time.

"We're not sure what we are doing yet, but everyone will have a good night and that is what it is all about," he said.

McFly are currently in the studio working on new tracks, but Harry said that was all top secret at the moment.

"You'll just have to watch this space," he said.
