Off-duty policeman in bike smash

An off-duty police officer suffered serious leg injuries yesterday when his motorbike was involved in a collision with a car.

The accident happened on the B4019 between Highworth and Blunsdon at 4.55pm, between his black Honda bike and a blue Nissan 4 x 4.

The officer, who is based at Swindon, was taken to the Great Western Hospital and the 26-year-old female driver of the Nissan, who comes from the Highworth area, was also taken to the hosputal suffering from severe shock.
