9:35am Tuesday 14th November 2006 in Swindon By Benjamin Parkes
A man tried to rob a post office in Swindon yesterday at 3.40pm.
Thought to be in his 30s, the 6ft man approached the counter of the branch in Plaza 21, Sanford Street, handed over a white envelope and demanded cash.
He unzipped his black bomber jacket and indicated that he was concealing a weapon.
Staff activated security alarms and the would-be robber, wearing a black and white hat and thick-rimmed old fashioned glasses, left empty handed.
