Treasure hunters launch Pewsey Carnival

Pesey Carnival began on Sunday with the well-established Cossor’s car treasure hunt.

The event is in its sixth year and is held to remember long-serving carnival committee member Clifford “Cossor” Goldsworthy. It was run by his daughter Carol Parsons and was attended by 12 teams.

The hunt took people out east along the Pewsey Vale on a route covering about 30 miles.

The competition was tight, with a tie for first place – the team with the lowest mileage took the prize.

The Clark and Goodman team pipped the Hasbeens to the post by just four miles, with the Livingstone family and friends taking third place.

Carnival activities continue on Saturday evening on the Coopers field, when the Carnival Queen and the other carnival royalty for 2012 will be selected.
