Pensioners in Pewsey are being slow to register for a free lunch on Sunday June 3 to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, says organiser Carol Parsons.

The lunch at the Bouverie Hall for Pewsey’s over 65s is entirely free and transport will be arranged for those who need it.

It will be run along the same lines as the annual Pewsey Carnival Feaste Tea which is always very popular with the village’s senior citizens.

Mrs Parsons said it was essential that pensioners booked to help the organisers know how many were coming and how much food had to be prepared.

The Pewsey Jubilee Lunch will be held on Sunday June 3 from midday at the Bouverie Hall, Pewsey.

Sign up forms are available at the Spar shop in North Street, the village library, Martins Newsagents or Cossor's Shop or those wishing to attend can ring Mrs Parsons on (01672) 563260, the parish clerk Alison Keers on (01672) 562014 or call at the parish council offices next to the Bouverie Hall.

The lunch is being organised by the Carnival Feaste Tea group and Pewsey Parish Council and is sponsored by Pewsey Spar shop, Aster Communities and Co-op.

Mrs Parsons said: “This is an opportunity for the over 65s in Pewsey to come along and join us for lunch and entertainment to celebrate the Diamond Jubilee.”
