A new brass rubbings trail along the banks of the Kennet and Avon Canal will be officially launched on Monday December 15.
The brass rubbings have been provided as an attraction for people, especially children, along the King Alfred’s Trail path in Pewsey and the surrounding area.
The official launch will take place at the Scotchel Nature Reserve with children from Pewsey Primary School demonstrating how to take brass rubbings.
Along the four walks that make up King Alfred’s Trail there are 20 engraved plates with images of animals, insects or plants to be found along the walks. The plaques have been provided by Wiltshire Walking for All in conjunction with the Pewsey Area Community Trust.
The trail was launched at the end of 2007 and all four walks from village to Vale are designed to be accessible to all, whether pushing a pram or a wheelchair.
