GENEROUS members of Pewsey Tennis Club have donated £1570 to Prospect Hospice after an action packed charity auction evening.

The charity auction was led by club member Philomena Plunkett who had the help of Richard Newport to offer up a range of prizes including meals out and even a furniture making course with designer Fred Baier.

Over 100 people went to fundraising event in aid of the Wiltshire hospice. Mr Newport said: “Prospect hospice is even more special to me personally because its nurses provided care for my wife last year in the weeks before she passed away. It is nice to give something back.”

Club chairman Colin Gratton added: “We are really pleased with the total, we had hoped to raise £1,000 which we exceeded. All our prizes were generously donated by our members. As a club we are very community orientated and raise money for charity every year. We are always looking for new members who would like to play on our courts.”The club has over 300 members, 150 of which are children.
